Designed for early childhood professionals, this online, self-paced course examines the importance of art in language development, fine and gross motor skills, cultural awareness, creativity, and decision-making. Through engaging lessons and practical examples, participants will gain the knowledge and confidence to create developmentally appropriate art experiences that foster learning and self-expression in preschool classrooms.
Course length – 2.5 hours.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• Identify the seven basic forms of art and describe the purpose of each with at least 90% accuracy on the course assessment.

• Explain at least four developmental benefits of art experiences for preschool children, including language, motor, cognitive, and social-emotional development.

• Describe three ways art activities support preschoolers’ language development and communication skills after completing the instructional modules.

• Recognize at least three strategies for using art to promote cultural awareness, creativity, and independent decision-making in preschool settings.

• Select developmentally appropriate art materials and activities for preschool children by successfully completing a scenario-based learning activity with 80% accuracy or higher.
