If you are employed in a state that uses a registry to track professional development hours, you will be able to provide your registry ID (Stars, MOPID, Registry or other ECE ID#) after you have completed the quiz for the course. Master the effective use of block, math, and manipulative centers to create engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences for young children. Designed for early childhood professionals working with infants through school-age children, this online, self-paced course provides an in-depth exploration of center materials, organization, and instructional strategies. Through videos, practical examples, and expanded activities, participants will learn how to design inclusive, hands-on learning environments that promote mathematical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, fine motor development, and active exploration. Course length  – 3.0 hours.

This course answers the following questions:

• What materials should be in the blocks center?

• What materials should be in the math center?

• What materials should be in the manipulatives center?

• What is the difference between a block and a manipulative?

• How can I get more girls to enjoy the block center?

• Should the centers be combined and if so, in what ways will that work?

• What are some great activities for these centers for my age group?

Participants who successfully complete this course will be able to:

• Identify at least three appropriate materials for block, math, and manipulative centers with 80% accuracy on the course assessment.

• Select at least three developmentally appropriate center activities that support children’s thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and motor development.

• Develop a learning-center plan that includes at least three engaging materials, inclusive practices, and intentional teaching strategies.
