When Can Kids Share and Take Turns?

If you are employed in a state that uses a registry to track professional development hours, you will be able to provide your registry ID (Stars, MOPID, Registry or other ECE ID#) after you have completed the quiz for the course. If you pass the quiz we will report your course completion to the state registry using the registry ID that you provide.

Explore the development of sharing, turn-taking, and cooperative play in young children. Designed for early childhood educators and caregivers, this course examines whether and when toddlers are ready to share and take turns, along with the stages of play that influence these skills. Participants will learn practical, age-appropriate techniques for teaching children to share, take turns, and interact more positively with their peers while reducing common conflicts over toys and other materials. Course length – 1.5 hours.

Participants who successfully complete this course will be able to:

• Identify at least three developmental reasons infants and toddlers may have difficulty sharing and taking turns with 80% accuracy on the course assessment.

• Select at least three developmentally appropriate strategies for teaching older children to share.

• Select at least three developmentally appropriate strategies for teaching older children to take turns.
