If you are employed in a state that uses a registry to track professional development hours, you will be able to provide your registry ID (Stars, MOPID, Registry or other ECE ID#) after you have completed the quiz for the course. If you pass the quiz we will report your course completion to the state registry using the registry ID that you provide.
The first three years of life are a period of incredible growth. This course will empower you with the knowledge and practical skills to provide high-quality, responsive care. The course will help answer the following questions.
  • How can I create a nurturing environment?
  • What is responsive care?
  • What are some basic milestones for ages 0 – 3?
  • How can I develop secure attachments with the children in my care?
Participants who successfully complete this course will be able to:
  • Define the principles of responsive care and explain how secure attachment and primary caregiving systems support early brain development.
  • Identify key developmental milestones and individual temperaments in infants and toddlers (birth to 36 months) across all developmental domains.
  • Design safe, healthy, and engaging learning environments that function as a “third teacher” and promote exploration.
  • Implement respectful and effective interaction strategies, such as “serve and return,” to support language, play, and social-emotional learning.
