If you are employed in a state that uses a registry to track professional development hours, you will be able to provide your registry ID (Stars, MOPID, Registry or other ECE ID#) after you have completed the quiz for the course. If you pass the quiz we will report your course completion to the state registry using the registry ID that you provide.
Early care and education professionals are faced with challenges that arise when working with children who have Autism. This course supports understanding and provides real strategies to help navigate daily challenges and strengthen family partnerships. Autism 102 is a sequel to Autism 101. Autism 101 emphasizes early identification and supporting families of children with autism. In Autism 102, we will build upon that content by introducing strategies to work alongside families and implement evidence-based practices in the classroom. Course length – 5.0 hours.

  • Why is early intervention important?
  • How can I build partnerships with the families?
  • How can I best prepare my classroom for children with Autism?
  • What are some strategies for preventing undesirable behaviors?
Participants who successfully complete this course will:
  • Recall signs and characteristics of autistic children.
  • Understand how to establish and maintain family partnerships
  • Gain knowledge of teaching strategies and classroom structure for autistic children.
  • Be able to observe and interpret a child’s behavior to develop a plan of behavioral success
  • Know techniques to prepare a classroom best equipped for children with Autism
