If you are employed in a state that uses a registry to track professional development hours, you will be able to provide your registry ID (Stars, MOPID, Registry or other ECE ID#) after you have completed the quiz for the course. If you pass the quiz we will report your course completion to the state registry using the registry ID that you provide.
Strengthen relationships with young children by learning practical ways to help them feel seen, heard, understood, and valued. Designed for early childhood educators and childcare professionals, this course explores acknowledging emotions, responding to children’s concerns and questions, offering appropriate apologies, and understanding the motivations behind children’s actions. Participants will explore practical examples and reflection questions to consider their daily interactions. Apply these strategies to build trust, encourage communication, support emotional development, and create a responsive classroom environment. Course length – 2.0 hours.
The course will help answer the following questions:
  • What are some effective ways to acknowledge their emotions?
  • How can I apologize to them when necessary?
  • How can I make them feel really seen and heard as individuals?
  • How can I be sure they know I hear their concerns and questions?
  • How can I better understand what motivates their actions?

 

Participants who successfully complete this course will be able to:
  • Explain how acknowledging children’s emotions supports healthy development.
  • Use active listening and empathy to build positive relationships with children.
  • Demonstrate appropriate ways to apologize and respond respectfully to children.
