Responsive Care and Development for Infants and Toddlers

If you are employed in a state that uses a registry to track professional development hours, you will be able to provide your registry ID (Stars, MOPID, Registry or other ECE ID#) after you have completed the quiz for the course. If you pass the quiz we will report your course completion to the state registry using the registry ID that you provide.

Build your knowledge and practical skills for providing high-quality, responsive care to infants and toddlers ages 0–3. Designed for early childhood educators and caregivers, this course explores nurturing environments, responsive care, developmental milestones, and secure attachments. Through practical strategies and reflection, you will learn how to recognize and respond to young children’s needs, support healthy development, and create meaningful, nurturing relationships that help children thrive. Course length – 1.5 hours.

The course will help answer the following questions.

• How can I create a nurturing environment?

• What is responsive care?

• What are some basic milestones for ages 0 – 3?

• How can I develop secure attachments with the children in my care?

Participants who successfully complete this course will be able to:

• Identify at least three responsive-care and interaction strategies that support healthy brain development in infants and toddlers with 80% accuracy on the course assessment

• Identify common developmental milestones and at least two ways temperament may affect an infant’s or toddler’s behavior and learning.

• Develop a plan for a safe and engaging infant or toddler learning environment that includes at least three developmentally appropriate materials or features.
