Teaching Life Skills to Toddlers

If you are employed in a state that uses a registry to track professional development hours, you will be able to provide your registry ID (Stars, MOPID, Registry or other ECE ID#) after you have completed the quiz for the course. If you pass the quiz we will report your course completion to the state registry using the registry ID that you provide.

Explore essential life skills for toddlers ages 1–3 and learn practical strategies for teaching and reinforcing these skills through engaging, age-appropriate activities. Designed for early childhood educators and caregivers, this course explains what life skills are, why they are important, and which skills toddlers need to develop. Participants will gain practical ideas they can use to make learning fun while helping toddlers build independence, confidence, and everyday skills. Course length – 1.5 hours.

The course helps answer the following questions.

• What are life skills?

• Why do toddlers needs to learn life skills?

• What life skills do toddlers need to learn?

• What fun activities can I do with my toddlers to teach these life skills?

Participants who successfully complete this course will be able to:

• Identify at least three developmentally appropriate life skills for toddlers and explain their importance with 80% accuracy on the course assessment.

• Develop at least three engaging activities that promote toddlers’ life skills, independence, and resilience.

• Select at least three supportive strategies for responding to challenges toddlers may experience while learning new skills.
