This course provides early childhood professionals with foundational knowledge and practical strategies to understand, recognize, and effectively respond to anger in young children. Participants will learn how to teach children healthy coping mechanisms, build emotional literacy, create supportive environments, and collaborate with families to foster emotional regulation. Course length – 2.5 hours.

  • What is the difference between a tantrum and a meltdown?
  • What are the developmental stages of anger?
  • What are common triggers for anger in young children?
  • What impact do adult responses have on children’s anger?
  • How can I create a supportive environment? What activities can I do to help children with anger?
Participants who successfully complete this course will be able to:
  • Identify common triggers and developmental reasons for anger in young children.
  • Implement strategies to manage angry outbursts.
  • Teach children an expanded emotional vocabulary and understand their feelings.
  • Guide children in using healthy coping mechanisms for anger.
