
Navigating the IEP
If you are employed in a state that uses a registry to track professional development hours, you will be able to provide your registry ID (Stars, MOPID, Registry or other ECE ID#) after you have completed the quiz for the course. If you pass the quiz we will report your course completion to the state registry using the registry ID that you provide.
This course is designed for early childhood educators who want to understand the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process and learn how to create effective educational plans for young children with developmental delays or disabilities. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to confidently navigate the special education system, collaborate effectively with school teams, and advocate for a child’s unique needs. Course length – 3.0 hours.

What is an IEP?
When can a child begin with an IEP?
What are some signs a child may need an IEP?
What should I do if I see signs that a child in my care may need an IEP?
How do I prepare for an IEP meeting?
Participants who successfully complete this course will be able to:
Understand the purpose and legal foundations of an IEP.
Navigate the IEP evaluation and eligibility process.
Effectively collaborate with parents, teachers, and related service providers.
Implement and monitor IEP goals in various early childhood settings.
Advocate for the child’s needs and ensure their rights are protected.
