Designed for early childhood educators and caregivers, this course explores what transitions are, why they can be challenging, and how they affect children, including those with special needs. Participants will learn tips, methods, and techniques to better understand children’s needs, reduce challenging behaviors, and create more successful transitions throughout the day. Course Length – 1.5 hours.

• Why are transitions difficult for teachers?

• Why are transitions difficult for children?

• How can we help children with special needs that have a particularly hard time with transitions?

• What are some tips, methods and techniques we can use to make transitions smoother?

Participants who successfully complete this course will be able to:

• Define classroom transitions and identify at least three reasons they are important with 80% accuracy on the course assessment.

• Identify at least three common reasons transitions may be difficult for young children.

• Select at least three developmentally appropriate strategies for creating smoother and more successful classroom transitions.
