Protect young children from the risks of sun exposure with practical sun-safety strategies for childcare settings. Designed for early childhood educators and childcare professionals, this course explores sun protection from infancy through early childhood, including sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and safe outdoor practices. Participants will learn how to reduce children’s exposure to harmful UV rays, recognize higher-risk times for sun exposure, and make informed choices about products and protective measures. Course length – 1.5 hours.

What measures can I take to keep the children safe?
What are the most dangerous times of day to be in direct sunlight?
What is the minimum SPF sunscreen that I should ask parents/guardians to bring in?
Is spray sunscreen as good as lotion?
Is sunscreen safe for infants?
What kinds of hats are best for sun safety?
What ages should use sunglasses?
Participants who successfully complete this course will be able to:
Identify the importance of sun safety and distinguish between UVA and UVB rays with 80% accuracy on the course assessment.
Identify the recommended SPF level and proper sunscreen practices for protecting young children.
Select at least three appropriate forms of sun protection for children, including hats, sunglasses, and protective clothing.
