Storytelling is one of the oldest and most powerful teaching tools. In early childhood education, stories open the door to imagination, build literacy and language skills, strengthen relationships, and foster emotional understanding. Course length – 3.0 hours.

  • How can storytelling help teach SEL skills?
  • How can storytelling help teach science and social studies?
Participants who successfully complete this course will be able to:
  • Define storytelling and explain its role in early childhood development.
  • Identify key components of effective storytelling.
  • Describe how storytelling supports language, social-emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Use storytelling to promote literacy and communication skills.
  • Incorporate props, puppets, and dramatic expression to enhance storytelling.
  • Create and adapt stories to reflect cultural diversity and inclusion.
  • Design storytelling experiences that engage all learning styles and abilities.
