This course equips early childhood educators with knowledge and strategies to recognize and respond to signs of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in young children. Participants will learn trauma-informed approaches to foster safe, supportive, and healing classroom environments. Course length – 1.5 hours.
The course answers the following questions:
  • What is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder?
  • What are the symptoms of PTSD in a child?
  • What are some causes of PTSD in young children?
  • What are some of the triggers of PTSD?
Participants who successfully complete this course will be able to:
  • Understand what PTSD is and the most common causes.
  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of a child who might have PTSD and will know what to do.
  • Understand the importance of communication with parents and caregivers about their observations and how to do so.
  • Recognize triggers, how to avoid them, and what to do if a child with PTSD is triggered.
