Tattling is one of the most common challenges in early childhood classrooms. Children are eager to share what they see and hear, but they often don’t yet know the difference between telling to get someone in trouble and telling to keep themselves or others safe. Course length – 1.5 hours.
This course explores important questions, including:
  • What are some practical strategies to help children recognize when tattling is okay?
  • What can children do instead of tattling?
  • How can I respond effectively when a child tattles?
  • What are ways to support social-emotional growth, problem-solving, and peer relationships?

Participants who successfully complete this course will be able to:
  • Define tattling in developmentally appropriate terms.
  • Distinguish between helpful and unhelpful tattling.
  • Teach children positive alternatives to tattling.
  • Apply classroom strategies that reduce tattling and foster problem-solving.
  • Respond consistently when children tattle.
