Cooking with Kids

If you are employed in a state that uses a registry to track professional development hours, you will be able to provide your registry ID (Stars, MOPID, Registry or other ECE ID#) after you have completed the quiz for the course. If you pass the quiz we will report your course completion to the state registry using the registry ID that you provide.

Discover how cooking projects can become engaging learning experiences for young children. Designed for early childhood educators and teachers, this course explores ways to teach math, literature, science, and other skills through hands-on cooking activities. Participants will learn practical, budget-friendly ideas that can be adapted to classrooms with or without a stove or oven, helping children build skills while exploring, creating, and having fun. Course length – 1.0 hour.

• How can I teach literature while doing a cooking project?

• How can I teach science while doing a cooking project?

• Do I need a big budget to do cooking projects?

• Do I need a stove and oven to do cooking projects?

• What else can I teach when doing cooking projects?

Participants who successfully complete this course will be able to:

• Identify at least three ways cooking activities support fine-motor development with 80% accuracy on the course assessment.

• Develop one age-appropriate cooking activity that teaches at least one math concept and one science concept.

• Identify at least three ways cooking experiences support children’s social-emotional development.
