
Tell or Tattle What’s the Difference?
If you are employed in a state that uses a registry to track professional development hours, you will be able to provide your registry ID (Stars, MOPID, Registry or other ECE ID#) after you have completed the quiz for the course. If you pass the quiz we will report your course completion to the state registry using the registry ID that you provide.
Explore the common challenge of tattling in early childhood classrooms and learn practical strategies for helping young children understand the difference between reporting to get someone in trouble and reporting to keep themselves or others safe. Designed for early childhood educators and caregivers, this course provides opportunities to examine effective responses, teach alternatives to tattling, and support children’s social-emotional development, problem-solving skills, and positive peer relationships. Course length – 1.5 hours.

Participants who successfully complete this course will be able to:

Define tattling and distinguish between helpful reporting and unhelpful tattling with 80% accuracy on the course assessment.

Select at least three developmentally appropriate strategies for teaching children positive alternatives to tattling and encouraging problem-solving.

Apply a consistent and appropriate response to common classroom tattling scenarios.
